This 500 m² chalet, once a centuries-old barn, has been transformed into a stunning luxurious family home in Village Dessous, just below the historic church. After an extensive two-year renovation by skilled local artisans, the barn now features a spa in the former vaulted storage areas and a second kitchen and cosy den in the old stable.
The 70 cm stone walls have been restored, and repurposed roof beams are woven into the balcony design — blending rustic charm and echoing the building's rich history. Built with local materials like mélèze wood and stone, the chalet harmonizes with its alpine surroundings while offering advanced home technology, including an elevator.

From what it was, to what it is today.
For centuries, this building stood as a working Savoyard barn in Village Dessous, just below the historic church of Champagny-en-Vanoise — livestock below, hay above, generations of alpine farming written into its 70 cm stone walls.
Eight years ago it became the first home we bought in the valley. Two years of restoration with local artisans turned the vaulted storage cellars into a spa, the old stable into a second kitchen and den, and the roof beams into the balcony that faces the mountains today.
